"I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible." ~ Matthew 17:20
The disciples asked Jesus why they are unable to perform the miracles that He does. Specifically, why they are unable to cast the demon out of the child. And Jesus' answer is simple. You do not have enough faith.
How often are we sitting in the same boat as the disciples? I don't know about you, but I have prayed prayer after prayer asking for God to do something or change something without the actual faith that He would come through and do it. But this verse is a reminder of the good gifts that God promises to us. A mustard seed is tiny - barely 2 millimeters big. Even that is enough faith for the biggest actions, like moving a mountain that weighs 2,600,000,000,000 metric tons. God wants to give us the desires of our hearts. He wants to perform miracles through us. He doesn't ask for something that seems impossible, but rather a small sliver of faith in him and in his ability to work through us.
Whatever it is that you need the faith to believe God for, I am not indicating that giving that up is easy. I don't want to mislead you - sometimes even faith the size of a mustard seed can be hard to muster up. However, I want to encourage you that God is walking among you, as you find your faith. And, he is faithful as you learn.
