This is my mom. Today is her earthly birthday. She would have been 74 years old. But she is no longer with us to celebrate. On November 3, 2012 she started her eternal life. Yet every year on this date many still wish her a happy birthday (myself included) because she was well loved and is missed tremendously.
As I read through the social media posts of others wishing her a happy birthday I noticed many of them included RIP… Rest in Peace. However as you can see my post speaks of her living her best life. There’s no more pain. There’s no more sorrow. There’s no more tears.
She gets to spend every day in the presence of our Father worshiping and praising his name.
So, why do we say Rest in Peace? Do we not die so that we might truly live?
Furthermore, didn’t Jesus die so that we might live? We are all seeking eternal life – not eternal rest. Thus, shouldn’t it be Live in Peace. Death is not about resting… it’s about finally getting to truly live. #FoodForThought
A couple of random pics of me with my mom from way back when:)
